Earth Hour 2009

This coming 28th March, participate in Earth Hour 2009 to show our support against global warming.. I'm sure most of you have read or heard about this Earth Hour.. What's all the hype all about? Well, in the year 2007 citizens in Sydney Australia decided to make a stance against global warming.. So on 31st March 2007, the whole of Sydney went to darkness, not because of power failure but because everyone (2.2 million people actually) decided to switch off their lights for an hour.. The event caught the attention of the world and it became a headline.. The following year, more people participated this event, globally.. It was estimated that 50 million people had joined hands to make a statement, to join the Earth Hour movement in 2008..

Being in it's 3rd year, we're hopeful that more people will join in this event.. WWF Malaysia has done some serious promoting and stuff.. So on 28th March, for just an hour, from 8.30pm till 9.30pm, do make a stand and turn off all your lights (except essential ones) and hopefully such an act will do something to stop global warming..

La Sallian movement is also participating in the Earth Hour movement.. For more info visit their website at http://lasallianfriends.blogspot.com/

Deadline --> Today!!

Deadline of application uni is today.. Or more like 11 hours from now.. Crap, the choices that u have to made, a choice that'll determine ur future.. It's scary, imagining choosing a course for the sake of choosing it, ending up not liking it and stuck with it for the rest of ur life until u retire.. Er.. Thinking too far ahead ady.. LOL!! Should think whether can enter the course or not.. HAHA!!

This is the time where we choose our own separate ways.. Where the road splits and all of us have our own calling to go to.. So far I got 3 friends leaving the country, and all 3 heading for the same destination, INDIA.. Nice country, with nice food.. Hey, I love Indian food ok.. Here, I would like to wish the best of luck to you all, especially the 2 who'll be flying off next week.. Another one, well, have to wait until Sept.. Sad...

As for me, I've applied numerous unis.. Locally la.. Hopefully I can get into one of them.. The wait will be a long one, only out in June, around there.. So well, while waiting, I rot at home.. Haha... Another chapter closes, another one begins.. I'll miss secondary school life, yes, to me F6 is still secondary school.. Will I have the same fun in uni, the same memories? Probably not, the things I hear from my seniors is that u dun really have much time to enjoy in uni.. Looks like the next few months is my final chance to make a last hurrah!! Well, at least I got the Genting trip to look forward to.. Lalala..

And WTH and WTF is wrong with MU???!!! SOBS!!!

A problem after another..

Well, after one problem is solved or passed, another comes along.. Life is a never ending journey.. Always full of challenges, full of surprises, full of stumbling blocks.. However, if life was smooth sailing, it won't be life at all rite?

My point being here is that back when we were primary school, the only thing that scared us is UPSR.. So out of our 6 years there, it scares us for like a few months? Then in secondary school we worry about PMR.. Once that's done is SPM, and about the results.. When the results are announced, some are joyful, others are bitter.. However both of them are still in a dilemma.. The joyful ones now have to decide what they want to do.. A Levels? Form 6? SAM? Overseas? The bitter ones too have their own set of problems.. Diploma? Form 6? Matriculation? So it's a never ending problem.. As life progresses, it just gets even worse..

Now I myself is in this situation.. Unlike F5 where you still enter a Pre-U programme and still managed to delay your decision making by at least 1 year, this is not the case once you finish Pre-U, in my case STPM.. I am grateful that God has given me good results and the fruits of labour has shown.. However, a question remains.. Who shall I become for the rest of my life? I am meaning occupation here, of course I'll be just me la.. Those of you who know me know very much what I want to do.. However, in this competitive and bias world, not all plans in life go according to what we want.. I'm confused about the universities I want and also my back up plans shall my primary plan go astray.. There's always the option for private but I do not want to burden my parents, they have struggled a lot for me already and the only way to repay them is to lessen their burden.. Overseas? Well, a possible destination but does is it any different from our private institutions.. Cheaper perhaps.. Recognised? Hope so..

Only less than a week to submit my application form to the UPU and I'm still unsure of what to choose.. Shall I just give it a shot hoping for the best? What happen if it backfires? Where does that leaves me? I need advice.. I need help.. I need a miracle..

Why are they so inconsiderate??!!

OK.. Something just really pissed me off just now.. I can't believe how inconsiderate people are these days.. Especially parents.. I was like WTH!! when a friend of mine told me her problem..

My friend didn't meet her parent's expectations with her recent STPM results.. To me her results were quite OK.. After all she did managed to get more than 3.00 which is the requirement for most courses in unis this days.. And not like she failed or what.. Her mum was OK with it, of course my friend felt bad about herself for failing her parents but she got over with it.. And her mum too.. My friend admitted that she didn't put full effort, so her mum forgave her.. Problem started with her dad.. Her dad scolded her non-stop when he got back from overseas.. From day to night it was non-stop hammering and bickering.. U thought it'll be over in a few moments but no.. This has been going on until like now.. Her dad compared her to her other friends who did better, in a way saying she's the worst and all.. This is making my friend miserable, feeling like want to runaway, hating her dad.. I pity her for that.. After all she did, thou not her best, she did give her best shot at it.. And this is how she gets 'rewarded'.. Scolded, compared, mocked..

Another friend of mine did somewhat better.. She scored over 3.5 in her STPM CGPA and was very happy with her achievements.. After all, that is what she has targeted.. Yet her parents can come tell her, your target so low ah? Why can't scored higher? Why he/she can do it, why not you? I'll say this, WHY DUN U TRY IT FOR URSELF??!!!

Most parent's today do not understand what their children go through.. Do u think STPM is a breeze? Do u think by studying we can ace the exam? Is life really that simple? NO!!! STPM is hell.. And not only that, every single thing u do is hell.. I got some friends who even did well and yet still get reprimanded from their parents.. To me, the parents want something to show off.. Oh.. My son got 4 flat.. My daughter got into NUS.. RUBBISH!!! You parents might have all the plans in the world for your children, u can plan their studies, career even marriage.. But not all things in life go according to plan.. NEVER!! I'm glad to God to have understanding parents, who know the cycle of life.. However, how many parents are there out there similar to mine? Many? A few? Some? I do not know..

Parents love forcing their children to do something that they want.. How many students, don't go far, my friends, who complained their parents are forcing them into courses that they don't want or even shooting down their dreams and hopes for the future.. It's always their way not ours.. I can't tolerate this kind of people.. This is OUR LIFE, OUR FUTURE, OUR WAY OF HANDLING THINGS!! U can guide us, give us advice, protect us.. But to a certain extend.. How long you all will be here? Forever? Till the day we grow old and die? NO!! If you ever forced your child to become something that the child hates, you'll end up destroying not only your dreams and aspirations but also your child's future..

Parents are suppose to be the pillar of strenght for their child.. They should support their child's dreams, not crush them.. Give them moral support and guidance, not helping them to self-destruct.. You think you all might know what's the suffering we go through especially like STPM exams but you don't!! The stress, the trauma, the phobia.. It goes to a level where you want to kill yourself.. I myself publicly admit this, I've reached to a point where I just wanted to give up but I stayed strong.. So DO NOT PRESSURE US!! We are already under a lot.. That's all I'm asking for all the children out there..

A day trip to Melaka..

Went to the Public Universities Education Fair just now.. Was a nice thing to finally be able to drive down to Melaka with friends.. LOL!! Next stop, IPOH!!! The fair was quite big, to me.. Found some useful information that hopefully will help me in my University applications.. Which is until 24th March.. Haha.. Somebody's b'day then rite? And other than getting stuck in traffic jams and a bit lost, Melaka is a nice place.. Wakaka...

Now about unis.. Am so confused now to what to choose.. I have a heading, now is only whether I can get it or not.. Thou my result is good, the competition will be forever stiff.. And not to mention about the competition from the matriculation students.. The unfairness in that.. That we have to work out butt off while they do 1/3 of what we do and get what they want while we suffer the dilemma.. Anyway, who said this world was ever fair? Choices, choices and dilemma.. Not a very nice combo.. Oh God please help me!!

Finally, it paid off!!!

Today must be the most happiest day in my life.. For several days I've been having dreams over my STPM results.. Finally when I went to school today to take it, it came out pretty well.. So I'm happy.. After all the slogging and hardwork and shit I went through, it finally paid off.. And of course I've to thank my God.. Only His power and glory has He given me such results..

Now for another major task.. Choosing a uni to study.. I pretty much have a heading to where I want to go, just now is choosing the right uni.. Damn, the problems never end.. Luckily I got 2 weeks for that.. Now I'll just sit back and enjoy the fruits of my labour.. =D

A Needless Issue..

Lately, many people are fighting over something which I consider an issue that is unnecessarily brought up .. The policy of teaching Maths and Science in English has been enforced for the past 6 years.. However certain groups have now decided to make a fuss over the issue, an issue where's there's nothing actually to make noise about.. Riots and protest in the street , police reports and memorandums, over something that has been here for quite some time.. It's really stupid and disturbing..

What's so bad about learning Maths and Science in English? My batch was the final batch to study these subjects in BM and when we went off to college, matriculation or F6, we did it all in English.. Of course for us it was a bit hard to adept, since these subjects were thought in BM for quite sometime.. However most of us quickly adapted and it didn't created a barrier that would prevent us from the full understanding of these subjects.. In fact, statistics has shown that there's no drop of students passing Maths and Science when it was thought it English, whether it's primary or secondary school. So why make an issue over something that's turning out well? The Chinese wants the medium be Mandarin again, the Malays obviously the Malay language.. Let me point out that no matter what medium the subjects are thought it, the learning process will still be the same.. Just because it's English and some people cannot grasp the language doesn't mean it's a bad thing for everyone..

For God sake, if we ever reverse the teaching of Maths and Science to Malay, we might as well ask UN to remove Malaysia from the face of the Earth.. I'm not saying learning Malay is a bad thing, it can come in handy sometimes.. However, how far are we going to get into the future? Where will the recognition be for our University graduates in the future? All the creditability that we have earned when we make the big change back in 2003 will just disappear and we'll be back to the stone age.. Our 2020 Vision will sound like 2120 Vision.. These people want to convert back to their own mother tongue for their own convenience.. They haven't thought about the consequences of the action, what impact it'll bring to the country, the future generation, the education system.. Millions will have to be spent to revamp the KBSM again, and with the economy so bad, we'll just be cursing Malaysia to a deeper grave.. And when our students leave F5 and try to go overseas, or even private unis back here, they did be a lost, and that time they'll suffer even more..

English is already recognized as an important language in the world today.. You won't be able to go far without actually mustering the language.. Other languages are also important, however, the international language is English.. Revert back our Maths and Science teaching into Malay again or some other mother tongue and we'll be a laughing stock to the world community.. Hishammuddin, I sure hope you and your ministry make the right call this time.. If not, oh well, I dunno.. You can only imagine what will happen la..
